Part I – Games decided by five runs or less = five.  That’s FIVE of FOURTEEN or 36%.  That means 64% of the games were decided by more that five runs.  The other nine games were decided by an average run differential of SIXTEEN.  Hell, even the All Star game was lopsided (+12).  Are you kidding?  Anyone want [...]

How about some box scores?! What follows is an attempt (by me a humble “contributor” here) to put up even more unnecessary info about all of ours’ favorite kids’ game (albeit all hipstered-out). Got my hands on a few scoresheets and thought I’d put ‘em up.
Disclaimer: These puppies are really hard to read. [...]

Check out fellow Board member Adina’s blog @ adina007.wordpress.com (there’s a link to the right under the blogroll). She has a humorous take on her team’s (Mad Greek) match versus Free State.  Holy fertile crescent!
AND……the KJHK (90.7) date and time has been confirmed.  We WILL be on Friday, July 11th from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m talking kickball.  [...]

I’ll admit it, I like seeing the younger teams do well.  This league has been top heavy for far too long.  Over the past few seasons, a KVKL fan could guess with relative ease which four teams would end up in the semis.  Doesn’t mean that it was an unexciting process, just predictable.  The last pleasant surprise [...]

There’s talk amongst league elders concerning up-and-coming teams with an eye toward the future.  The KVKL is always looking for new, talented teams to challenge the upper echelon.  Simply put, it would be nice to view different teams in the championship.  This notion of parity would give every team reason to hope and improve themselves accordingly.  There will be, [...]

What is this game, this abomination?  These excruciating contests.  A stark reflection of our inner sanctity, perhaps?  Or, merely a gauge of what condemns us along with the rest of humanity.  We seek only temporal moments of fame, rather not lavishly and oft unwittingly.  Mired in libation, we consider Sunday’s sacrifice a well-reasoned event.  Most appropriate and mostly [...]

Crap.  Do I need mention the disappointment?  According to the LJW weather page, we have accumulated 5.36 inches of rain in nine (9) days.  Our normal precipitation to date (for the month of June) is 1.77 inches.  That’s, um, a bunch.  Some of that rain, along with wind and hail, was very impressive.  I’m acclimated to mid-western [...]

To be quite honest, I had my head in the clouds all day Sunday.  I was simultaneously preoccupied, confused, overwhelmed, anxious, nervous, and flippin’ excited about the 1st week of kickball.  My significant other (we’ll call her Tammy) considers me totally useless on game days.  Does she not understand the hysteria this league brings to the [...]
